Making Music Our Own

Developing musical literacy and competence, with Nikki Berry & Gary Easterbrook

Using a playful approach: our voices, simple songs, games and tuned percussion, we will explore the basic building blocks of music and establish a road map for further development.

The course covers:

° Learning by ear - developing aural skills
° Sight singing - transferring aural skills to paper
° Part singing - developing musical independence
° Understanding rhythm
° Understanding harmony
° Drills and exercises to go on with
° Making music for the joy of it!

Suitable for beginners or more experienced musicians wanting to 'back fill' gaps, or experienced musicians/teachers wishing to develop more fun, holistic ways to teach.

This course is not suitable for people who haven't yet learnt to 'pitch match' (hear a pitch and reproduce it).
